About Us
Ascaris is one of the finest and most established caterers in and around Herefordshire. Family run, it was set up over 55 years ago with good food and customer care in mind.

Our menu
We provide extensive menu options to suit different tastes and budgets, for all occasions from Canapé Receptions, Dinners and Buffets, Corporate Events, Wakes or Private Parties; to organising the special day of your life – Your Wedding Day – whether at home in a Marquee or a venue of your choice, with your own unique menu, we will make this a special day for you to never forget.
Location
Ascaris is the main established caterer at a number of beautiful and exciting locations throughout the country. We not only work locally in Herefordshire but travel all over the country to marquees, functions, fayres and balls. We also are a preferred caterer for some venues and details of these appear in links on this site
Our Food
Our fresh produce is sourced from local suppliers whenever possible, especially the world famous “Hereford Beef”.
When using Ascaris for catering there is no need to look further for hire for your function, we will supply kitchen equipment, crockery, cutlery, glassware, table linen, bar if required and experienced smart, friendly staff.
History
Cafe Ascaris (shown above on the corner of West Street & Aubrey Street), is one of the most known and long running cafes/restaurants in Hereford. Started over 55 years ago by Mrs. Maria Vaughan, and still in the family; now owned and run by her son and his wife – Mr. Nicholas and Mrs. Renee Vaughan.
Choose from our ground floor café, or from our restaurant on the first floor (which has friendly, table service), ordering a freshly made coffee, and maybe treating yourself, for example, to one of our famous “own made cream and jam scones or maybe a slice of lemon meringue pie”. Come and try our wonderful cooked dishes, starting with a full breakfast or for Sunday lunch treat yourself to one of our delicious roasts. Maybe you would like something lighter, again plenty of choice to choose from for example our “own made quiche” or baked potatoes with salad. (Meat and produce sourced locally when possible).
If you are thinking of something larger – our upstairs restaurant is always available as a function room, for example this is ideal for Christenings (dependant on final numbers) contact the office for more details.
